How users and workspaces work

Start with the big picture of how one login can belong to many workspaces, then read on for roles, invitations and permissions.

AndelSound is organised into three layers: users (people, shown as round avatars) join workspaces (shown as rounded squares), and an organization pays for the workspaces it covers.

The same user can belong to several workspaces with a different role in each, and two users can share one workspace, each holding their own role.
One login, many workspaces. Your role is set per workspace — you can be an Owner in one and an Engineer in another, and two users can share a workspace.

Roles: who can do what

Every membership carries a role. It decides which modules a person sees and how much they can change. A person can hold a different role in every workspace they belong to.

Role Typically holds
Owner Full access, including billing. Every workspace has at least one owner; ownership can be transferred.
Admin Everything an owner can do except billing — including inviting members and editing permissions.
Manager Booking, finance, PR and documents. A day-to-day coordinator without full admin reach.
Artist Production and their own profile, with read access to distribution. The default role for people who join from a shared link.
Engineer Production only — bounces, comments and stems, without the surrounding business modules.
Guest Read-only access to the specific modules you open up. Good for a label contact or a reviewer.

Access levels. Within a module a role holds one of three levels, each including the ones before it: View (see it) · Add (create & upload) · Manage (edit, delete & configure).

Inviting people to a workspace

Owners and admins add members from workspace settings. There are two ways in — a direct email invite, or a shareable join link.

  1. 1

    Open Settings → Invitations

In the workspace you want to grow, go to Settings and pick the Invitations tab.

  2. 2

Enter their email and choose a role

The role you pick here is what they'll hold the moment they accept. You can change it later from the Members list.

  3. 3

    Send the invite

They get an email with a link. Pending invites are listed below the form until they accept or the invite expires — you can resend or revoke from there.

  4. Or share a join link

Anyone who opens the link can request to join. Their request appears under Members → Join requests; approving adds them as an Artist that you can re-role afterwards.

Tuning permissions

The built-in roles cover most teams. When you need something different — say, letting engineers manage distribution in one workspace — override a role per module without touching the others.

  1. 1

Go to Settings → Members → Permissions

The permissions editor lists every role alongside each module in this workspace.

  2. 2

Leave a module on Default, or override it

Default follows the built-in role. Override a cell to set No access, View, Add or Manage for that role in that module only.

  3. 3

    Save

Overrides apply to this workspace only, so the same role can be looser in one workspace and tighter in another. Owners and Admins always keep full access and can't be locked out.

Need to change an existing member instead? Open Settings → Members, change their role inline, or transfer ownership from the same list.
